New York Times News Service CHICAGO--Ryan O'Neal, Andy Williams and Howard Cosell signed autographs. Dick Gregory and Sandy Barron told jokes. Fred Williamson, a black actor, led his white date around crowded tables. Phil Donohue, a white television personality, guided a young black woman through the throng of more than 300. It all happened Saturday night at the compound built by the last Elijah Muhammad, spiritual leader of the Black Muslims, who taught that white people are devils. IT WAS THE first party ever given by the Muslims at their compound, and it was indicative of the radical changes in the religion since the death of Muhammad last February. There was singing, dancing, cigarette smoking, some profanity and dresses that were short and low cut, all once decreed as taboo by Muhammad.

Clifton Davis and Della Reese entertained. Stevie Wonder sang " Superstition " Lola Falana performed a disco dance. "It's boogie time in the Nation, " said one observer, referring to the Nation of Islam , the Muslims official name, a religious group that Muhammad turned into a financial empire by reforming a lot of drug addicts and criminals and preaching stern personal discipline. Since the death of Muhammad , his son Wallace, the new spiritual leader, has instituted the most dramatic shift in the 45- year history of the elder Muhammad's brand of Islam. The most profound of these was a declaration last May that whites are no longer considered devils and are even acceptable for membership in the religious group. Wallace Muhammad seems to be orchestrating the new directions. Change had begun to occur before Elijah Muhammad died, but nothing comparable to what has happened since. For example, Wallace began the process of eliminating from the Muslim lexicon the word " devil " as applied to whites and of easing the dress code that had restricted males to suits and ties and females longs, drab dresses. Now Muslim men are noticeable by their color -coordinated, double knit suits and colorful shirts, ties and shoes. At Saturday night's event, some Muslim woman wore bright red and other bright colors, including long | silk dresses with sequins and Pappagallo shoes. Such drastic changes in what had become an integral part of the religious order has created concern and praise. There are those who feel the changes are genuine and positive: others believe the only motivation is improvement of the image to make the religion more palatable to prospective black converts and white money interests. Besides Finding whites acceptable, some of the other changes that have occurred in the religion include the following . There has been an appreciable relaxation of stringent rules and personal conduct of members. At Saturday night's party - given by Don King, a fight promoter, for the heavyweight champion, Muhammad Ali, and his manager, Herbert Muhammad , another son Elijah Muhammad - usually reserved Muslims and non-Muslims alike clapped hands and stomped their feet to the beat of the music. The character of " Muhammad Speak," the religion's weekly publication, has been altered. The current edition has been altered. The current edition has several stories about the desegregation efforts of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a civil rights organization scorned by the Muslims in the last two decades. Whites are nowtreated differently by the publication. A recent edition | carried a picture of Sen, Frank Church, D - Idaho, and an article on the Senate's investigation of the Central Intelligence Agency. Muslims are mixing more with non-Muslims, formally and informally, socially, professionally and personally. Saturday night was the best example But recently, non - Muslims were invited to a party given by Muslims in New York . Muslim women were allowed to stay late until the end , another relaxation of the rules. The religion has stepped up its campaign to attract more middle-class and professional blacks, and with some success. One such black remarked at lunch recently, They had to do that in order to get more people like me interested." Moreover , Muslim sources within the religion report that more startling changes are in store. For example, one source said, the Muslims plan to become more active in social problems in the community . Another source said the religion will very soon get involved in national politics, including endorsing a candidate in next year's presidential campaign." And a lot of blacks might not like which way they go," the source commented. But remember , these guys are businessmen who are aligned with white conservative businessmen , many of whom are republicans. Plus, they are trying to get the kind of financial aid that the White House can provide, and the President is a Republican. So don't be surprised if they endorse Gerald Ford for President next year." |

Messenger Elijah Muhammad taught the Blackman and woman in America the importance of having a SEPARATE TERRITORY
One year after Messenger Elijah Muhammad's Death, His hypocrite son, Wallace D.Mohammed HELPED THE DEVIL TO DESTROY THE IDEA OF A SEPERATE THE IDEA OR A SEPERATE TERRITORY when he joined with the devil (whiteman) Jim Jones, who murdered more than 600 on

Wallace Born October 30, 1933, Detroit, Michigan. The seventh son of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Sister Clara Muhammad. The work he was to do was foretold by Allah in Person, though misinterpreted by many. Messenger Elijah Muhammad wanted a son to "help" him in "his work". And Allah, Who came in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad, told The Messenger that Wallace would "help him in his work". Wallace did just that!
In 1975 after the physical death of Messenger Elijah Muhammad , Wallace caused ONE OF THE GREATEST SEPARATIONS IN THE HISTORY OF THE NATION OF ISLAM. He separated the True Belivers in Messenger Elijah Muhammad Teachings from those Who were Not True Believer and took on the title of Supreme Minister.
All of the WEAK BELIEVERS or OUT-RIGHT HYPOCRITES went on to follow Wallace.
MESSENGER ELIJAH MUHAMMAD warned of us Wallaces Hypocrisy in the 1963, when Wallace turned against Messenger Elijah Muhammad's Teachings and slandered The Messenger. Malcolm X went on National Televsion and revealed that the root of his own hypocrisy began with what he was told by Wallace. The following years, exactly three days after Malcolm X was murdered, Wallace asked forgiveness from the Nation of Islam and was told by Messenger Elijah Muhammad that he (The Messenger) could not accept him back unless the Believers accepted him back. They did. He rejoined the Nation of Islam and was put out of the Temple 1969 and again in 1971. Again rejoining in 1974, just before the death of the Messenger. The Believers, keepin in mind that it was foretold he would help The Messenger in His work, allowed him to assume leadership in the Nation of Islam, despite his past hypocrisy.
Shortly thereafter, Warith Mohammed denounced Allah, Who came in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad. He denounced The Honorable Elijah Muhammad being the last Messenger of Allah. And he stopped teaching that white people are devils
In 1976 Warith Mohammed began calling HIS FOLLOWERS, "Billalian". By 1977 Warith (Wallace) changed the name of his organization of hypocrites to the, "the World Community of al-Islam in the West"; the name was changed again to the American Muslim Mission in 1978 and to the Muslim American Society in 1985. He changed his own name to Warith Deen Mohammed and adopted the title of Imam . MUCH MUCH MORE TO COME!!!
Pictured; The Hypocrites Unite!
1963 -- Wallace brought his hypocrisy to the forefront and left the Temple in opposition to Messenger Elijah Muhamnad
1964 Messenger Elijah Muhammad referred to Wallace as Absolom in the Bible
1965 -- After the assassination of Malcolm X, W.D. Wallace returned to the NOI ranks
1969 -- Messenger put Wallace (Warith) out of the TempleW.D. Muhammad put ourby NOI for his "dissident views."
1971 -- W.D. Muhammad again suspended by NOI for his "dissident views."
1975 -- Elijah Mohammed died. The day after, W.D. Muhammad, Elijah's son, was named Supreme Minister of Nation of Islam. This decision was unanimously approved during Savior's Day celebrations on 26 February 1975. W.D. Muhammad publicly shunned his father's theology and black separatist views and began a process to reformulate his father's beliefs and practices to bring NOI closer to American Sunni Islam.
W.D. Muhammad met privately with Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat in Chicago.
Wallace D. Mohammed relaxed the strict discipline and harsh rhetoric of the Black Muslim movement and changed changed the group's name. This reformation resulted in the splintering of the organization.
1976 -- W.D. Muhammad forged ties with other American Muslim organizations and renamed his own the World Community of al-Islam in the West. He changed his title from Supreme Minister to the more Islamic one of "Imam" and adopted the name "Warith Deen Mohammed." Organizational membership was opened to all believers. Two years later, he changed the name of his organization to "American Muslim Mission."
W.D. Muhammad, reportedly, received a gift of $16 million from Sheikh Sultan Ben Mohammad al-Qasmini, head of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, to purchase a mosque and build a school.
1977 -- Farrakhan disagreed publicly with W.D. Muhammad over NOI's move toward Sunni Islam, and took a minority of NOI members with him into a splinter group
1978 -- W.D. Muhammad resigned as spiritual leader of the American Muslim Mission.
Farrakhan resurrected the Nation of Islam believing that Wallace Mohammed's policies were lax. In this restoration, Farrakhan reclaimed the heritage and principles of Black separatism. He thus emerged as the most influential leader among the Black Muslim community. But his racial rhetoric were considered "un-Islamic" by orthodox Muslims.
1981 -- Farrakhan announced restoration of the "old" Nation of Islam, and dissident group, loyal to Louis Farrakhan, resumed the NOI name and its variant Islamic theology and went forward with Elijah Muhammad's NOI teachings. Farrakhan was more "media savvy" than W.D. Muhammad.
1985 -- W.D. Muhammad dismantled the leadership council he had set up. Each mosque then became an independent entity with its own name and leadership. Most remained affiliated to the successor organization, the Muslim American Society (also known as the Ministry of W. Deen Mohammed), based in Calumet City, Illinois
1992 -- W.D. Muhammad was the first Muslim imam to offer morning prayers in the United States Senate, and later participated in two Interfaith Breakfasts hosted by President Bill Clinton.
1995 -- Louis Farrakhan was responsible for the dramatic Million Man March.
1996 -- W.D. Muhammad was invited to meet Pope John Paul, II at the Vatican.
2000 (February) -- At the Nation of Islam's annual Savior's Day celebration, Imam Wallace D. Mohammed of the Muslim American Society joined Farrakhan on the stage and the two men warmly embraced after Farrakhan declared, "We bear witness that there is no prophet after the prophet Mohammed!"
With that statement Farrakhan rejected the theology of the Nation of Islam under Elijah Muhammad and Farrakhan himself. Wallace Mohammed's presence at the celebrationalong with Sayyid Sayeed, secretary-general of the Islamic Society of North America, 4 million members strong and the major group for immigrant Muslimsindicates a willingness of mainstream Islamic organizations to accept Farrakhan's efforts to move closer to orthodox Islam.
But two years later the question remains as to whether rank-and-file members of the Nation of Islam are looking to follow Farrakhan in his move to orthodox Islam.
The American Muslim Council's study indicates that blacks make up one half of all Muslims in the United States and are the fastest growing segment. But these growing numbers of African American Muslims are increasingly adherents to orthodox Islam, rather than the theology of the Nation of Islam.
Statement by W.D. Mohammed
on Reconciliation with Louis Farrakhan
Its easy for me to embrace Minister Farrakhan. Our families are together. We are really one family. Our friendship has not died, and it will not die. And the little problem, the small problem, that weve had along the way, struggling to present ourselves as God willed that we present ourselves, its not bigger than the word of God, the Quran, and its not bigger than Muhammad, the model for all human beings, for all people of faith. Its very small.
So we see, we think, what have we done to bring about this togetherness? What have we done to bring about this closeness that we have this minute? What have we done to free our hearts so we can hug each other and kiss each other, as I did kiss my brother? What have we done to bring that about? Nothing but tried to find the way in the path of Islam, and Allah did the rest. Allah did the rest.
I want to say that Minister Farrakhan is a great leader. Ive watched him over the years, since the passing away of my father and our fallen leader, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Ive watched him and I have done a little mathematics, a little calculation, and Ive come up with progress for the Nation of Islam under the leadership of Minister Farrakhan. Whatever has troubled us in the past, I think we can bury it now and never look back at that grave. And never look back at that grave.
I was reading the Bible once, and I was reading it really so I could better understand Christian neighbors and respect them, as I should respect them, while trying to invite them to Islam. I wanted to be prepared to speak to my Christian neighbors with understanding of what they believe in. So I read the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelations, twice. Once I just read it to be reading it; the second time I studied it very carefully. I came across something that came to my mind as I was sitting there thinking over Minister Farrakhan and our new revived friendship and unity. I was thinking of it and I said to myself, "I think Im going to tell Minister Farrakhan" This is for Minister Farrakhan.
In the Bible, Minister Farrakhan, I read that a holy man had wanted to give sight to a blind man. And this holy man took mud and put it on the blind mans eyes. I was very young at that time, Minister Farrakhan. That was over 25-years ago. I was very young. I said to myself, "Isnt that a cruel way to help a blind man? He already has enough in his way of sight and then the man put mud in his eyes."
Weve had a lot of mud on our eyes, but the eyes are now washed and cleaned. And the mud didnt hurt us, it helped us to see.
